MoiT Has Issued a Decision to Exempt Anti-Dumping and Safeguard Duty for Some Factories

On May 31, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a decision to apply safeguard duties on imported pre-painted steel products from effect until June 15, 2020.

On June 18, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continued to issue a decision on the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty on pre-painted steel imported from China and Korea.

However, recently the Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has received applications for exemption from the application of anti-dumping and safeguard measures for imported colored steel. On September 11, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a Decision on exemption from the application of anti-dumping and safeguard measures with a total volume of 16,294.9 tons for the following enterprises:

Accordingly, the above importers will enjoy the exemption with the corresponding import volume without being subject to safeguard and anti-dumping duty on pre-painted steel products until the end of 2019.

In addition, on September 11, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also issued a decision to exempt anti-dumping measures on coated steel products. Anti-dumping duties on coated steel products imported from China and Korea were officially applied on April 14, 2017 and are effective until April 14, 2022.

The exemption decision states that POSCO Vietnam Holdings Co., Ltd. is exempted with a volume of 12,000 tons in 2019. In addition, POSCO Vietnam Holdings is entitled to a refund of anti-dumping duty paid for shipments that imported in 2019.
